Enlarge image The problem
A quote could take days.
Metalldel’s customers sent their CAD files by email, alongside supporting PDFs, quantities and explanations of what they needed. A single job could include bending, deburring, threading, galvanizing or another surface treatment.
Those details had to become a quote before the customer could move forward. The goal was to let customers get a price instantly, with the part and its fabrication requirements already connected.
The solution
Bring the part, the price and the order together.
A3GET built a custom customer portal around Metalldel’s fabrication workflow. Customers upload DXF or STEP/STP files, inspect the geometry, choose how the part should be made and see pricing update as they configure it. Payment and ordering complete the same journey.
Project folders give uploaded parts a lasting home. Customers can organise their work and return to saved files, instead of starting every enquiry with another email attachment.
Our work covered the customer experience, backend, CAD processing and administration area, followed by deployment and ongoing operation. The portal runs under Metalldel’s own brand in English and Norwegian.
Key features
Inside the customer journey.
Check the part before choosing how it is made.
An uploaded CAD file becomes something the customer can inspect. They can switch between 2D and 3D views, measure the part and confirm its drawing units and dimensions before selecting material and services.

Bend-angle and direction controls sit beside the formed 3D preview. Customers can review the shape while configuring the part, with the bending price available in the same view.

Fabrication options need to account for the actual part. In the threading step shown here, customers choose threads by hole size, while holes too close to a bend are blocked with an explanation.

Material, bending, threading and surface treatment contribute to the configured price. Customers can review the breakdown, choose a finish and add the part to their cart, then pay and place the order online.

Built for customers and the team behind them.
Business accounts
Company profiles and access for multiple users support business purchasing, with invoicing, credit balances and payment terms.
Day-to-day administration
Metalldel’s team manages stock, orders, customers, payments and credits in a dedicated administration area.
The outcome
From waiting for a quote to placing an order.
Customers now receive instant prices for supported parts and can move from CAD upload through configuration to payment and ordering online. Metalldel’s team manages the commercial side in the same system, connecting the customer journey with day-to-day operations.
Client feedback
In Kim’s words.
A3GET built our customer portal from CAD upload all the way through to payment and ordering. Customers can preview and measure their parts, organise projects, and see pricing as they select different fabrication options. Our team can also manage stock, orders, customers, payments, and credits within the same system.
The platform has brought the key parts of our quoting and ordering process together in one place. I would recommend A3GET to anyone looking to build this kind of custom fabrication software.
